What is PEB Corp Group, and what does each company do?

Conventional vs. industrialized construction

Delays and overruns are resolved before construction starts

Conventional concrete construction carries more schedule and cost uncertainty: budgets reopened on site, schedules at the mercy of the weather, and waste nobody accounts for up front.

Cost overruns

On-site rework and change orders push budgets 15–40% over plan: scope changes, coordination errors and extra labor.

Schedule slips

Weather, skilled-labor shortages, and site errors add months to the schedule and delay occupancy.

Material waste

Lost material, environmental impact, and low on-site productivity: visible and hidden costs the project ends up absorbing.

03How a steel-framed building goes up

Six on-site steps, each with a deliverable

A standard LGS/CFS project moves through six controlled steps, from foundation to finishes, each with a dedicated crew and documented verification.

Surveyor with a leveling instrument and a worker marking layout lines on a concrete foundation slab, with steel trusses stacked alongside
Step 01

Foundation & layout

On the cured, leveled concrete slab, wall-track locations are laid out from BIM shop drawings.

Complete cold-formed steel frame of a two-story house, with wall panels, open-web floor joists, and roof trusses
Step 02

Structure: wall panels, floor & roof

C-studs in Zn-Al-Mg 275 g/m² steel are fastened to tracks with self-drilling screws and checked for plumb. Floor and roof joists are then fastened to the top track of the wall panels.

Workers run plumbing and electrical conduit through the steel studs and floor joists before the walls and ceiling are closed in
Step 03

MEP integration

Wiring and plumbing run through pre-punched knockouts in the studs, protected from sharp edges.

Workers fasten exterior sheathing boards to a two-story steel-framed house, with scaffolding and stacked boards on site
Step 04

Exterior sheathing

Exterior sheathing boards are fastened to the studs and brace the frame. The facade finish is applied over them afterward.

Workers raise gypsum board to the ceiling with a panel lift, next to a wall with insulation between the steel studs
Step 05

Insulation & interior boards

Stud cavities are filled with thermal and acoustic insulation, and walls and ceilings are then closed in with interior boards.

Finished two-story steel-framed house with a smooth white and gray facade, windows, and a metal roof
Step 06

Envelope & finishes

EIFS facade, windows, and metal roofing. A weather-tight building ready to operate.

Go to the technical blog

What is industrialized steel construction?
Industrialized steel construction runs BIM design, engineering, CNC fabrication, logistics, and erection as one operation. In PEB Corp Group, PEB Corp engineers the building. NewCon Steel® fabricates the LGS/CFS profiles at the group’s CNC plant (Centro Industrial PEB, Las Mañanitas, EMMA regime) to a ±0.5 mm (±0.02 in) tolerance. SmartBrix Construction erects on site at a reference rate of 380 m² (about 4,090 sq ft) per day per crew. Every project is designed to the local code: NSR-10, REP-2021, or the IBC, with AISI S100-16 for cold-formed steel.
What is steel framing, and how does it differ from concrete construction?
Steel framing replaces the concrete structure with cold-formed steel (LGS/CFS) members coated with Zn-Al-Mg 275 g/m². Construction is dry, the pieces arrive cut from the BIM model, and the building process can be up to 90% faster than traditional construction. The system is lighter than concrete, which reduces foundation loads, and the steel is recyclable. It is used for schools, industrial buildings, offices, housing, and institutional buildings. Turnkey execution is contracted with SmartBrix Construction.
How much does steel framing construction cost in Colombia or Panama?
Cost per m² depends on the building type, finish level, city, and scope (structure, MEP, sitework). A steel-framed LGS/CFS project compares best with concrete on total cost: construction time, financing, labor, and waste. For a project-specific figure, request a quote. We reply within 24 business hours and send the technical proposal / quote in 48 h. Our guide to steel warehouse cost in Panama shows reference ranges with their scope.
What kinds of buildings can this system deliver?
Industrial buildings, warehouses, logistics centers, schools, university campuses, hospitals and clinics, corporate offices, 24/7 control centers, institutional and government buildings, oil & gas facilities, hotels, and multifamily housing. Height and structural system (pure LGS or hybrid with NewCon Steel® bolted steel) are set by each project’s structural design.
Where does PEB Corp operate, and who are its clients?
Headquarters are in Panama, with corporate offices and the group plant at Centro Industrial PEB, Las Mañanitas. There are local offices in Colombia and the Dominican Republic, and the group serves projects across the Caribbean. Clients include the Colombian Ministry of Defense, Ecopetrol, Universidad del Rosario, Copa Airlines, Chevron, HOCOL, Bavaria, Canacol Energy, AES, ISAGEN, Gas Natural Fenosa, the City of Bogotá, Weatherford and Trafigura.
Which standards and certifications does the group meet?
PEB Corp Group holds ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environmental), ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), and ISO 37001 (anti-bribery) certifications. Structures are designed to NSR-10 in Colombia, REP-2021 in Panama, the IBC and AISC in the United States, and AISI S100-16 for cold-formed steel.
How long does a steel building take compared with conventional construction?
As a reference published by the group, a typical industrial building can be operating in ≈4 months from the fabrication order, depending on scope and site readiness; conventional concrete usually takes longer. Erection runs at a reference rate of 380 m² (about 4,090 sq ft) per day per crew, because components arrive ready to assemble with shop drawings taken from the BIM model. The full schedule also includes engineering, permits, and foundations.
What types of projects has the group delivered?
Institutional and government buildings, warehouses and industrial buildings, educational campuses, corporate offices, oil & gas facilities, 24/7 control centers, logistics centers, and housing. The group has delivered 350+ projects over 15+ years.
How do quoting and project kickoff work?
Four steps: (1) a kickoff meeting to define scope, schedule, and objectives; (2) a preliminary estimate within ±20%; (3) a design contract that produces a detailed quote based on shop drawings; and (4) the construction and supply contract. The design fee is credited against the construction contract. The first reply arrives within 24 business hours and the technical proposal / quote in 48 h.
What is the difference between PEB Corp, SmartBrix Construction and NewCon Steel®?
PEB Corp is the parent of PEB Corp Group: structural engineering, BIM design, institutional relations and the export gateway. SmartBrix Construction is the construction unit: turnkey Steel Framing and modular projects. NewCon Steel® manufactures LGS/CFS profiles, panels and kits and bolted cold-formed structural steel (AISI S100); it does not build buildings. Hot-rolled steel structures (AISC 360) are designed by PEB Corp engineering. The three share the group’s engineering and quality system and differ by role.
How does steel perform in earthquakes and hurricanes?
Cold-formed steel has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is designed for each site’s seismic and wind loads under the governing code (NSR-10, REP-2021, or IBC/ASCE 7). The group applies hurricane design verified per project up to 250 km/h (Category 4). The quoted wind speed is a design reference, not a universal building rating; each project verifies calculations, exposure, anchors, connections, and envelope for its location.
What about the facade and finishes? Is the steel structure visible?
Not necessarily. The system accepts any envelope: EIFS, metal panels, brick masonry, ventilated facades, or glass curtain walls. The structure can stay hidden or be expressed, depending on the architectural intent. Every project includes coordination with the architect.
Does the group build schools and educational buildings?
Yes. Steel-framed schools and campuses are a group specialty, delivered by SmartBrix Construction with PEB Corp engineering. References: Universidad del Rosario (11,500 m², about 123,800 sq ft, in 100 days), Colegio Santa Luisa (2,500 m², about 26,900 sq ft, in 3 months), Saint Peters Academy, and Gimnasio Fontana. BIM design optimizes classroom thermal and acoustic insulation, and structures are calculated to NSR-10 in Colombia.
Can architects and GCs contract only the steel structure or the BIM design?
Yes. There are three models: (1) full turnkey with SmartBrix Construction; (2) supply of LGS or bolted cold-formed structure manufactured by NewCon Steel®, erected by your contractor or by SmartBrix Construction; and (3) BIM design and structural engineering by PEB Corp for firms that want to subcontract only that specialty. Revit and Tekla models are delivered at LOD 400, ready for fabrication.
