Panama is a demanding environment: hurricanes (ASCE 7), moderate seismicity (REP-2021), salt-laden air on the coasts and high humidity. PEB Corp designs and checks every building for these conditions.
Wind and hurricanes
Panama lies in the tropical pressure band. PEB Corp calculates wind loads to ASCE 7, with hurricane design verified per project up to 250 km/h (Category 4). The quoted wind speed is a design reference, not a universal building rating.
Seismic design under REP-2021
REP-2021 sets the seismic design spectra for each zone of Panama. Thanks to their strength-to-weight ratio, LGS structures perform better in earthquakes than traditional concrete.
Marine environment
The cold-formed steel carries a Zn-Al-Mg 275 g/m² coating with active protection against salt corrosion. In Colón and other coastal areas, additional coatings are specified when the design calls for them.
Thermal and humidity control
LGS wall cavities make room for thermal insulation and humidity control. In Panama we recommend insulation and a vapor barrier in the envelope, with lower operating costs than concrete.

The PEB Corp Group 2026 reference for the steel structure of an industrialized warehouse in Panama depends on size: approx. 220–260 USD/m² for 500 m² projects, 180–220 USD/m² for 2,000 m², and 150–180 USD/m² for 5,000 m² (steel structure only, MEP and civil works not included; Panama 2026 reference). It is not a turnkey price and not a price for other countries. The final price depends on size, structural complexity, seismic and wind zone, insulation, roll-up door count and finish level. MEP, special finishes and permits are itemized separately in each quote.
How long does it take to build an industrial warehouse in Panama?
A 2,000 m² industrialized warehouse takes ≈4 months for fabrication plus erection; the municipal building permit is processed in parallel (typically 4–6 weeks). A 2,000–3,000 m² turnkey project executed by SmartBrix Construction (design, permits, fabrication, civil works and erection) takes ≈28 weeks, because fabrication overlaps the civil works. Larger buildings, or those with cold storage and offices, are scheduled by scope in the quote.
